Tournament date, time, and location

The night of Saturday July 8th is a full moon. Therefore we have opted to make the tournament 24 hrs around the clock to allow those ambitious full moon carp stalkers to get after it. Competitors meeting will be held at 4-pm July 8th at the "weigh in" location. This will likely just consist of beer drinking but it is important to show up because crucial information about the tournament will be disclosed. Meeting ends at 7-pm. At this point the tournament begins. At 7-pm sharp the next day (Sunday the 9th), we will have the “weigh in”. Missing this deadline will result in disqualification. Location of the "weigh in" has yet to be announced.

Tournament registration:

Rules

Common carp only (all varieties, including koi).

Open to boat or wade fishing (hint: wade fishing will likely win but you’re welcome to prove me wrong).

Fishing is only permitted with fly tackle including any length and line weight; anglers are limited to carrying just one rod.

Fishing is only permitted in public state navigable waters of the Colorado and Guadalupe drainages. This includes tributaries (Blanco, San Marcos, San Saba, Llano, and Pedernales Rivers) and reservoirs of the Colorado and Guadalupe Rivers.

The length of every fish must be recorded with a digital camera or smartphone, and each measurement must be with an approved measuring devise (bring to competitors meeting). "Something" given to you at the competitors meeting must be included in the photo for points to be awarded.

1 inch = 1 point.  The angler with the most points wins.

In the event of a tie, the win will go to the angler who caught a koi or mirror carp. In the event of a further tie, the win will go to the angler with the single largest fish; in the event of a further tie you’re on your own to figure it out.

Anglers' responsibility

All fish must be released unharmed. Foul hooking strictly prohibited.

It is the responsibility of all anglers entering this tournament to have a valid state fishing license and obey all Texas fishing regulations. It is also the responsibility of the angler to ensure that they do not trespass and only access water through public access points (as long as you stay in or on a state navigable water you’re not trespassing). Please be respectful to land owners. Lastly, it is the responsibility of all anglers to be good stewards of the sport and conduct and promote ethical practices on and off the water.

Any departure from ANY of the above will result in disqualification.

Prizes

Prizes will be predominantly donations from our sponsors. I cannot say exactly what this will be but I heard a rumor that there will be a custom built fly rod for first place and copious amounts of awesome merchandise. A small portion of the proceeds will also be donated to the outdoor non-profit of the winning anglers choice. If registration is sufficient we will also have a small pay out to top placing anglers. If you do not place in the top three, do not despair, we will also have a raffle that every angler is automatically entered into upon registration.

Buffalo Side-Pot

If there is interest we will have a side pot going for smallmouth buffalo. Single biggest buffalo wins. $10 buy in, winner take all.
